The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology Studies is a qualification specifically designed to develop your practical skills in manicure, pedicure, nail enhancements using liquid and powder or UV gel systems, electrical filing and creative nail art design. You will also learn about health and wellbeing, client care and communication, and how to promote products and services within a salon environment. In addition, you will gain underpinning knowledge of health and safety practices and develop the professional skills needed to work successfully within the nail and beauty industry.
Master advanced nail technology techniques including manicure, pedicure, sculpting with gel or acrylic, creative nail art design and the safe use of electric files. Gain expertise in client consultations, health and wellbeing, hygiene, and promoting products and services. You’ll develop strong communication and teamwork skills to succeed in a salon setting, while deepening your understanding of professional standards, health and safety, and salon operations.

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification. Your centre will have ensured that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification.

What’s Included?
- Study Programmes are designed for young people aged 16–19 (or up to 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan). These full-time programmes combine:
- A vocational qualification (such as Beauty or Hair)
- English and maths (if you haven’t yet achieved grade 4/C at GCSE)
- Work experience or industry placements
- Personal development and career preparation
You’ll be in a supportive learning environment with access to tutors, pastoral care, and career guidance.
Am I Eligible?
To enrol on a fully funded Study Programme, you must:
- Be aged 16 to 19 on 31st August before the academic year starts
- Be living in England and eligible for state education funding
- Not already hold a full Level 3 qualification (depending on the programme)

Offer on-the-go nail treatments for clients at their homes or events, giving you flexibility and a wider client reach.
Run your own nail or beauty salon, managing services, staff, and growing your brand in the beauty industry.
Teach aspiring nail technicians in colleges or private academies, sharing your skills and experience with the next generation.
Work in luxury settings delivering nail services to international guests in resorts, hotels, or onboard cruise ships.
Create high-impact nail looks for photo shoots, fashion shows, and media, collaborating with stylists and creatives.
